Scripture Reading
Psalm 121:1-2, 7-8
I will raise my eyes to the mountains; From where will my help come? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
7 The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. 8 The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in From this time and forever.
Devotional
Life is a full of ups and down. One moment you may feel like you’re on top of the world and the next moment you may feel hopeless and wondering where God is. In those times of despair, God is telling you that he’s right there. He’s protecting you. You have nothing to fear. Let the doubts be quelched because he’s got your back 100%. People may be able to be defeated, but not God, so we can have assurance that no matter what we are up against or how impossible our circumstance may appear, God can handle it. We can expect and declare victory over our circumstances because God is with us.
When I think of this scripture, a battle scene in a valley comes to mind. It’s you against the enemy and the enemy has you surrounded. Your defeat looks imminent, but in that moment you look up to the mountains in expectation and there is your ally, your friend, your protector – God coming down. And although you’re weak and broken down, you know with full confidence that your enemy is about to be defeated. Your impossible situation is about to turn around and not only will you be victorious, but God will use that circumstance to show others his glory.
If this message is finding you in a valley, raise your head and look up because God is on the way. Let’s pray.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for always protecting me from things both seen and unseen. Thank you for reminding me that in my lowest moments I can always rely on you and know that my story doesn’t end in despair, but in victory. I want to thank you for what you’ve done, what you’re doing, and what you’re about to do. I’m declaring victory over my circumstances in Jesus’ name, Amen.
